The Find and Replace dialog box opens with the text you entered in both the Find and Replace text boxes. To Convert Fields to Text Navigate to the field you want to convert to text. Fields can be contained in AutoCAD text, multiline text mtext , table cells, attributes, property set definitions, object properties, object styles, and project details.
Select the field, right-click, and click Convert Field to Text. Select a single-line text object. Right-click the selected object and select Properties. In the Properties palette, enter any new text, and then change formatting and other properties as needed. After you create a multiline text object in AutoCAD, you can edit it in the same way as a single-line text object: Select the object, right-click, and choose Mtext Edit or Properties. Mtext Edit: Selecting this option opens the In-Place Text Editor window so that you can change the text contents and formatting.
Edit Multiline Text Double-click a multiline text object. Select the malfunctioning object. Right-click and choose Mtext Edit. Right-click the text and choose Select all. Reapply formatting as needed. Make sure to also set an appropriate layer current before creating the text object. Edit block in-place is a great way to modify block when you want to use other objects in the drawing as reference.
It was originally for reference editing, but works for blocks too. To edit a block in-place, do any of the following: Right-click on the block and select Edit Block In-Place. To Edit a Field Double-click a text object to display the appropriate text editing dialog box. Double-click the field that you want to edit. The Field dialog box is displayed.

What happened? Below is a snapshot from AutoCAD help. How do we change this? You can also bring up the options dialog box. There are several ways to accomplish this. You can type options at the command prompt or simply right click in the command area to name two. Now when you double-click on objects that have specific editing tools you will be able to perform the functions necessary to complete the task.
